Holiday Planning

Residents of Macarthur Accommodation have always enjoyed a fabulous quality of life which has usually included a yearly holiday. The staff assist residents to budget their pensions and earnings each fortnight in order for them to fulfill their dreams.

Some examples of holidays are Australian, New Zealand and South Pacific cruises and holidays to Singapore, Hawaii and the United States. We also travel within NSW.

Below are three holidays MAS participants enjoyed with staff support:

8 residents and 2 staff members went to America for 23 days. They enjoyed Hawaii, Disney Land, Alcatraz, Universal studios and many other places and sites. Residents and staff particularly loved going to Disney Land. They had so much fun on the rides, going into the stores and seeing their favourite Disney characters. For two of our residents, this holiday was also seen as their honey moon, as they only got married a few months before.

8 residents and 3 staff boarded the Diamond Princess for an eight night cruise to Melbourne, Hobart and Port Arthur. Entertainment on board and our tours on shore were very much enjoyed. There was a bit of a Beatles theme so residents danced and sang along to the music. Two residents had a sea plane ride in Hobart which they thoroughly enjoyed. Two other residents and a staff member had a motorbike ride through Hobart. Others enjoyed the spas, they all went to the movies, trivia, horse racing and the shows put on by the cruise.

5 residents and 2 staff members went on a 7 night cruise around the coast of Australia. Both residents and staff enjoyed relaxing on board the ship, watching shows, eating all the amazing food. Not to mention exploring different parts of Australia where the ship docked. One resident got to visit a close family member in Queensland when the ship docked there.

All residents and staff loved these experiences and were very eager to look into more cruises and holidays for our clients in the near future.
